The challenges posed by migration to the cloud
Currently, Hurtado highlights, all companies have some digital element. “Its future lies in digitization”, he mentions and highlights that especially the banking industry is one in which there is a greater application of technological resources through the cloud.
“In Mexico we have all kinds of industries, from pharmaceuticals to banking, that are transforming their infrastructures, because although there are companies that have their data centers here, they are also transnational companies that must adopt cloud solutions to maintain communication,” explains the sales director of Nutanix, Fernando Zambrana
Despite this, there are common obstacles for almost all organizations in Mexico, with 98% saying that cloud cost control is one of the main challenges with their current IT infrastructures.
Additionally, 50% said they were “very concerned” about cloud costs in the context of their IT budgets for the coming year. This percentage in Mexico is significantly higher than the response from the Americas region (34%) and global (30%).
Despite that challenge, all of the companies surveyed expressed a desire to have a single place to view and manage the various aspects of their IT environments, even stressing that they require unified tools that provide visibility into where all their data resides and allow them to manage applications comprehensively.
On the other hand, the main factors driving organizations’ infrastructure decisions are cybersecurity (including protection against ransomware and malware), data services (eg, files/blocks/objects), and sustainability.
Cybersecurity is the most important, concluded Hurtado, because even though they do not have a physical presence of a data server, each company knows that it is responsible for its security, which increases the perception of trust.
