Meta will allow its users to opt out of cross-site tracking

One of the most well-known forms of Facebook tracking, for example, is the one that is done outside of Facebook, Well, it is not at all strange to discover that one of our favorite websites has a Facebook tracking pixel to collect information about our behavior, even if we do not have a user account on a Meta social network.

However, after the verdict of the German regulators, Meta will be forced to provide users with greater control over tracking that is made of them through the different websites that they can visit, so that if we want, we will be able to remove your tracking in the company’s user account center.

While this is the first time Meta has offered this level of control over our data, the FCO is not really impressed with what Meta has done about it, Well, although the basic objective has been achieved, user tracking has been linked to other Meta functionalities, such as the possibility of cross-posting on Facebook and Instagram, so that if we use this feature, We must allow ourselves to be followed on other websites.

It remains to be seen if the FCO will continue to allow this in the future or if Meta will be required to fix this technicality.
