Goal has announced that it will make its large open source language models easier to use Calls at government agencies in the United Stateswith the aim of developing applications based on artificial intelligence (AI) that strengthen national security and boost the economy.

The technology firm has expanded the availability of Llama to the public sector, with industry partners such as Oracle, IBM, Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, who are developing applications to bring AI to government agencies and contractors. .

“Thanks to its ability to process large amounts of data, reason and generate useful information, large language models can support many aspects of US security and national security“said the president of Global Affairs, Nick Clegg, in a statement shared on the official blog.

In this context, Oracle is working on Llama to synthesize aircraft maintenance documents, while Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure are helping governments host Meta models in their secure cloud solutions for sensitive data, and IBM’s WatsonX is bringing Llama to national security agencies in their self-managed data centers and clouds.

This initiative aims to support national security, but also the economic growth of the country, in a context where “China and other competitors of the United States” have already begun to develop their own open source models.

“The goal should be to create a virtuous circle that helps the United States maintain your technological advantage and, at the same time, spread access to AI globally and to ensure that the resulting innovations are responsible and ethical and support the strategic and geopolitical interests of the United States and its closest allies,” the manager added.
