Mega Millions jackpot increases to $785 million

() — There was no jackpot winner in Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing, and that means some lucky ticket buyer could take home an estimated $785 million in Tuesday night’s drawing.

The numbers drawn on Friday were 1, 3, 6, 44, 51 and the Mega Ball was 7.

A player in Ohio hit all five white balls on Friday night and took home a $1 million prize.

Tuesday’s jackpot would be the fourth largest in the game’s history.

The Mega Millions jackpot has exceeded $600 million only five times in its more than 20-year history, the lottery said.

It last happened on July 29 when a corporation bought a ticket in Illinois to win $1.3 billion (or $780 million in cash).

That was the second largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won. The largest was $1.5 billion, which was claimed by a South Carolina ticket buyer in the October 23, 2018 drawing.

Jackpot winners can collect their money in two ways: a one-time cash payment or the annuity option, which provides an initial payment, followed by 29 annual payments. In this specific quasi, a winner choosing annuity payments over 29 years would receive $785 million, while a winner choosing the cash option would receive $395 million, according to lottery officials.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands. The lottery says the odds of winning that jackpot are 1 in 302,575,350
