Outside of science fiction it is impossible to predict exactly What will happen in the future. That does not prevent politicians from all over the world Take advantage of the last weeks of the year to summarize the season that is ending and predict what the next one will be like.
The former president of Russia and current vice president of the Russian Security Council, Dimitri Medvedev, did not want to be less. This Tuesday he has published a Twitter thread with his predictions for 2023. A short list of ten pointseach more crazy, which describes an almost apocalyptic scenario.
His “humble contribution,” as he calls it, begins with a warning about the economic outlook. “The cost of oil will rise to 150 dollars a barrel and the price of gas will exceed 5,000 dollars for every 1,000 cubic meters”, predicts the person who this week has been appointed -presidential decree through- number two of the Russian Military Industrial Commission led by Vladimir Putin.

Along these lines, Medvedev draws an unflattering map for Europe. “The United Kingdom will rejoin the European Union. After that the EU will collapse and the euro will stop being used,” says the Russian politician, who since the invasion of Ukraine began in February has fueled disinformation campaigns promoted by the Kremlin through its social networks.
He has also been very belligerent towards kyiv, calling Ukrainians “cockroaches” and accusing their leaders of being capable of using nuclear weapons on their own civilians “for devilish pleasure”.
On this occasion, Medvedev has indeed ruled on the future of Ukraine, which, in his opinion, will be occupied (at least the western part, because Russia considers that the East belongs to it after the illegal annexation of four provinces) by Poland and Hungary. And that’s not all: “The Fourth Reich will be createdwhich will cover Germany and ‘its satellites’ such as Poland, the Baltic States, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the ‘Republic of kyiv’, etc.”, it details.
But it will not happen peacefully, rather, according to his predictions, “war will break out between France and the fourth reich. Europe will be divided and Poland will be divided up during the process.” Not even Northern Ireland is spared from this future more typical of the last century than of the current one, which “will secede from the UK and will join the Republic of Ireland.”
On the New Year’s Eve, everybody’s into making predictions
Many come up with futuristic hypotheses, as if competing to single out the wildest, and even the most absurd ones.
Here’s our humble contribution.

Medvedev, China and the war in the US
The United States could not be missing from his forecasts. Medvedev, who last week visited the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, has warned the first world power on numerous occasions with the use of nuclear weapons. Thus, it is not the first time that he uses an apocalyptic narrative to refer to the country led by Joe Biden.
On this occasion, he has predicted that a civil war will break out that will end with california and texas becoming independent, and Texas and Mexico forming a superstate. All this will happen, always according to Medvedev, under the watchful eye of Elon Musk who “will win the presidential elections in several states that, after the end of the new Civil War, will have voted for the Republican Party“.

As a consequence of this outbreak of violence, the former Russian leader believes that “the largest stock markets and financial activity will leave the US and Europe and move to Asia.”
The thing does not end there: according to his version, “the Bretton Woods system of monetary management will collapse, bringing down the IMF and the World Bank“. In addition, he continues, “the euro and the dollar will cease to circulate as world reserve currencies. Digital fiat currencies will be actively used instead.”
These messages have gone viral and even Elon Musk, CEO of Twitter, has responded. “epic thread“, the tycoon has written. It is not the first time that Medvedev’s visions are so catastrophic. Already in the summer, the former Russian president assured that “Ukraine will disappear from the world map” in two years.
