MediaTek Genio 700: New SoC for IoT with 8 ARM cores



The well-known chip company, among which SoCs for smartphone networks and processors stand out, among many other things, has announced the launch of its new Genio 700 chip for devices of the so-called “Internet of Things” or “IoT”.

The MediaTek Genio 700 is made up of 8 ARM architecture cores, specifically we have 2 high-performance cores Cortex-A78 running at a maximum speed of 2.2 GHz, together with 6 cores of ARM Cortex-A55 architecture at 2.0 GHz. All this following a 6-nanometer manufacturing process.

It is complemented by a multi-core accelerator for Artificial Intelligence capable of offering 4 TOPS of power for all types of applications. The graphics part is carried out by the MC3 three-core variant of the ARM Mali-G57, an integrated model capable of encoding 4K video at 60 FPS with the HEVC codec (h.265) and decoding 4K at 75 FPS.

MediaTek’s Genio 700 supports operating systems such as Android and Linux, including Yocto Linux and Ubuntu, as well as USB 3.0 connectivity, PCI Express 2.0 and camera systems. It will reach the market during the following quarter of the year integrated into connected products in the industrial field, and also smart Home environments.
