Medellín will have a vaccine factory

VaxThera, a biotechnology company from Seguros Surainaugurated headquarters for vaccine and biological research in Medellín.

Thus, in the laboratory they will be able to “conduct rigorous research studies; design, produce and validate vaccine candidates; optimize production processes and generate high-quality vaccines and biologics that will be used in preclinical studies”, as they claim.

In fact, they add that the VaxThera research team is advancing in the development of a universal vaccine against Covid-19 and in vaccines against tropical diseases.

In addition, the plant to produce vaccines is under construction and they hope that by the end of this year it will be able to start operating.

“At VaxThera we have been strengthening our capacities in science and technology to position Colombia as a leader in the biotechnology and health industry.”, affirmed Jorge Osorio, president of VaxThera.
