The mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, traveled to Washington this Sunday to participate in the Earth Conference, organized by the World Bank (WB), to talk about the challenges of the Colombian capital in the face of the climate crisis.

“I am at the airport (El Dorado in Bogotá) and we are going to start at this moment the first international trip in my Mayor’s Office. It arises as a result of an invitation from the World Bank at the Earth Conference where we are going to have the opportunity to present what what has been the experience of Bogotá in its development and planning”, Galán said in a video posted on his social networks.
He added that he will also speak “about issues of the climate crisis and the challenges we are facing right now in Bogotá.”

The official will take advantage of the trip to meet with representatives of the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), as well as with the mayor of Washington, Muriel Bowser, with whom he will talk about security issues for the “complex challenges” that that city has had.
“We will talk about many projects in Bogotá that are strategic, such as the Canoas WWTP (Wastewater Treatment Plant), for which we are seeking international financing”added the mayor.
