Matthew Perry apologizes for his controversial mention of Keanu Reeves in his new book. What was it that he wrote?

Matthew Perry and Keanu Reeves.

Perry faced criticism after the media shared an excerpt from her upcoming book, “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” in which she discusses the 1993 death of her friend, actor River Phoenix, and makes reference to another actor, Keanu Reeves.

“River was a beautiful man, inside and out; he turned out to be too beautiful for this world. It always seems to be the really talented guys who go down,” Perry wrote. “Why do original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?”

Perry now apologizes.

“I’m actually a huge fan of Keanu. I just randomly picked a name, my mistake,” he said in a statement to People. “I apologize. I should have used my own name instead.”
