Sony has announced that PlayStation 5 players can now purchase Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered independently in exchange for 59.99 euros. On the other hand, the Japanese company and Marvel have announced the release for May 6 of a comic that will serve as a prequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a game starring Peter Parker (Ben Jordan) and Miles Morales (Nadji Jeter) who if all goes according to plan it will be available this fall on PlayStation 5. Both titles are in charge of Insomniac Games.

Until now Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, an improved version of the game originally released on PlayStation 4, could only be purchased through Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: Definitive Edition (79.99 euros), a title that debuted with PlayStation 5 ago almost three years. Now, in addition to a version stand alone of the remaster, users who have a copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man (physical or digital), Marvel’s Spider-Man Digital Deluxe Edition or Marvel’s Spider-Man Game of the Year Edition (physical or digital) for PlayStation 4, can pay 10 euros and upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PS5 increases the resolution over the original PS4 version and introduces ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows. Characters have also been updated with technology that allows for more detailed and realistic representations of skin, eye or teeth shading, as well as individual hair. Also, there is a change of face for Peter Parker. John Bubniak has been replaced by Ben Jordan “to get closer to the performance of the voice actor Yuri Lowenthal,” James Stevenson of Insomniac Games said at the time.

The future of the Marvel’s Spider-Man saga goes through the launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, about which we should know something more in the coming months. This installment will follow the adventures of Peter Parker and Miles Morales with a completely new story in which both superheroes will face Venom (among other villains). This installment is in the hands of Bryan Intihar (creative director) and Ryan Smith (game director), responsible for the first Marvel’s Spider-Man.
