The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has appealed to the mobilization of the Socialists to be able to win the municipal and regional elections on May 28 and the general ones at the end of the year, because in his opinion, it is the only way to guarantee a triumph of the PSOE at the polls. “We must continue to mobilize, not stopping is important, showing our faces, always with our heads held high. Have no doubt that this is how we will win”.
In an act of homage in Campo de Criptana to the socialist candidacies, he highlighted the necessary “impulse” that the city councils must promote in May so that the PSOE continues to govern in December, and continues to advance in rights and freedoms. Thus, he has highlighted that the socialists “have always had a project for the future” and in line with this reflection he has cited figures such as Felipe González, Alfonso Guerra or Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba.
Along the same lines, he has asked the mayors and councilors to explain the management carried out by the PSOE in Spain, because “it is necessary” for the public to know, the minister stated, “what we have done” in a “complicated” legislature. , in a context of a global pandemic and with the “illegal invasion of Ukraine”.
Thus, according to Grande-Marlaska, citizens will understand that it is possible to continue “improving the Welfare State” and building a “progressive society where everyone has their place”, pointing out that the situation would have been different if conservative parties had governed, which he would have positioned himself next to “the most powerful”.
For this reason, he stressed that the PSOE “has a commitment” to the citizenry and is far “from the noise”, remarking that “you can get out of difficult times by investing in people and in social welfare”.
Thus, he cited examples of measures undertaken in this legislature such as the opportunity represented by European funds, the employment policies that have managed to reach more than 20 million workers, an increase of more than 37% in the Minimum Interprofessional Wage in the In the last four years, an increase of more than 30% in investments in scholarships or the possibilities that the Minimum Vital Income has offered to the citizens who need it most.
“Municipal Party”
However, it has valued the municipal character of the PSOE and has noticed the work of the 3,058 councilors of Castilla-La Mancha who have worked “from the base” to later “implement policies at the regional and central level.”
To value this attribute, he recalled that “40 years have passed since the first socialist triumph, on October 28, 1982” and “on April 3, 1979, where we were able to take command of most of the town halls.”
He also wanted to mention the role of the municipality of Campo de Criptana: “The first to transform the country with your mills, which are a historical heritage.”
