The Prosecutor’s Office has charged a man for posting racist comments on social media against Colombia’s Vice President Francia Márquez, between September and November of last year, authorities reported.
The alleged author of the discriminatory and racist messages, Armando Luis Angulo Paternina, He was accused of “making comments that harmed the vice president’s personal integrity and right not to be discriminated against on racial grounds,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

A prosecutor from the Specialized Directorate against Human Rights Violations accused Angulo, who lived in Medellín (Antioquia) when he published the comments, of the crime of discriminatory acts, a charge that was not accepted by the accused.
This is not the first time that the vice president has received discriminatory comments on social media, since since the 2022 election campaign began she has been the victim of insults such as “King Kong, gorilla, ape and the like“, according to a report by the Foundation for Press Freedom (FLIP).
Furthermore, on June 16th, Márquez’s father was the victim of an attack from which he emerged unharmed when he was traveling between the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca, in the southwest of the country, according to official sources.
