Email marketing giant Mailchimp has warned that its servers have been hackedsomething that has resulted in the leaking of the data of “dozens” of the company’s clients. This marks the second time the company has been hacked in less than 6 months.something that does not look good at all in his history.
As we read in Tech Crunchit seems that the cause of this hack has been exactly the same as the previous occasion, something that calls into question the efforts of the company’s security team, who have observed that an intruder was detected on January 11 in the company’s internal systems.
It was previously mentioned that the data of “dozens” of users could have been leaked, but among the total of 133 compromised Mailchimp user accounts – adding to the 214 previously compromised Mailchimp accounts –, WooCommerce and customer data has been exfiltrated, which is why the impact can be thousands or millions of users, something the company does not explain.
WooCommerce has approximately 5 million users, And while not every single WooCommerce user could fall victim to an attack, this definitely opens the door for a future direct attack.
