Magna Gasoline is going through its second week without subsidies

Between September 14 and 20, which includes the long weekend celebrating the beginning of the fight for Mexican Independence, consumers will pay 6.1752 pesos in IEPS per liter of Magna gasoline; 5.2146 pesos per liter of Premium and 6.7865 pesos per liter of diesel.

So far this year, the government had applied IEPS discounts on Magna gasoline until September 7, while Magna and diesel have not had this help from the government for most of the year.

Why are there discounts on IEPS?

The federal government grants these discounts to avoid a rise in fuel prices when the price of oil rises and, thus, avoid a further rise in inflation.

The lower the subsidy applied by the Treasury Department, the greater the government’s tax revenue collection.

On Friday, September 13, the average price per liter of Magna gasoline is 24,029 pesos, that of Premium is 25,520 pesos, and a liter of diesel is 25,621 pesos, according to the PetroIntelligence website.
