MAE promotes Thai content at the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival

From April 6 to 10, 2024, the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), in collaboration with the International Trade Promotion Department of the Ministry of Commerce, the National Federation of Film and Film Content Associations (MPC), the Thai Children's Love Content Association (TBLC) and various partners, brought entrepreneurs, Thai actors and actresses to participate in the first edition of HIFF in Ho Chi Minh City.

The event had various activities. More than 20 Thai actors and actresses walked the Red Carpet during the opening ceremony at the Opera House on April 6, 2024.

A Thailand booth on Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street showcased Thai tourism, sports, culinary delights and film industry.

A mini fan meeting allowed actors and actresses to connect with their Vietnamese fans.

New art show highlights Hangzhou's rich culture

On April 8, 2024, the Royal Consulate General of Thailand and the Thai Trade Center in Ho Chi Minh City co-organized the event “Empowering Partnerships: The Digital Content Industries of Thailand and Vietnam”. Nine Thai companies had the exclusive opportunity to present their potential and strengthen networks with the Vietnamese private sector.

On April 9, 2024, Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, attended the screening of the Thai film “Pattaya Heat”. A Q&A session followed with Shupeng Yang (director), Jirayu Tantrakul (lead actor) and Gulasatree Michalsky (lead actress).

Additionally, two other Thai films, “Solids by the Seashore” and “The Cursed Land,” participated in the competition and were screened at the festival.

This project is part of cultural diplomacy aimed at strengthening Thailand's global popularity, especially in the content industry, providing opportunities for Thai private sectors abroad, and strengthening vibrant Thailand-Vietnam relations at the people-to-people level.
