The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has congratulated his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after his re-election for a new term.
“The best wishes and the greatest success to our brother President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in this new stage of management, which will undoubtedly be one of development and prosperity for Turkey. The bilateral relations of our governments will continue on the path of brotherhood and cooperation,” Maduro said on his Twitter account.
In addition, the Venezuelan president thanked the “warm welcome” provided by the country’s authorities.
Erdogan took office this Saturday of a new five-year term as President of Turkey, the second in a row, and has promised to “continue working hard to make his “Vision of the Century of Turkey” a reality.
The Turkish president won the second round of the Turkish elections on May 28 with 52.18 percent of the vote against his rival, the opposition candidate Kemal Kiliçdaroglu, who achieved 47.82 percent of the vote, according to official results.
