MADRID 25 Oct. () –
The city of Madrid says goodbye starting this Friday to rental scooters parked on the streets of the capital and companies may be fined 1,500 euros in case of non-compliance.
The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, reported that the Madrid City Council was going to revoke the authorization for the 6,000 scooters from three companies that could circulate on its streets, considering that the agreed conditions were not being met.
Thus, Almeida stated that the City Council has confirmed that throughout these months the agreed conditions have not been met and “there continue to be risks as a result of the circulation of these scooters.”
Specifically, he pointed out that they do not have the necessary technology or there is a lack of knowledge among users of the rules they have to follow in the city. “Therefore we understand that the conditions do not exist for these companies to continue operating under these conditions,” he added.
