Earlier this week, the “Papercuts” singer gave fans an intimate look into his life through the release of a new Hulu documentary titled Life in Pink.
About halfway through the movie, MGK talks about falling into darkness after his father’s death in 2020.
“I flew to my dad’s apartment to clean all this up. I had a really weird interaction with a neighbor who told me all these things I didn’t want to hear,” he says in the film of his father, who died on the first anniversary of his Hotel Devil album release. “That pissed me off even more because I couldn’t close it. I wouldn’t leave my room and it started to get very, very, very dark.”

He continued: “Megan went to Bulgaria to shoot a movie and I started to feel really wild paranoia. Like I’m still getting paranoid that someone is going to come and kill me. She always slept with a shotgun next to my bed, and like, one of the days, I just snapped.”

“I called Megan and told her, ‘You’re not here for me,'” she added. “I’m in my room and I’m like going crazy with her and her friend, I put the shotgun in my mouth and I’m screaming on the phone and as if the barrel was in my mouth. I’m going to cock the shotgun and when the bullet comes back up, the shell just jams. Megan is like dead quiet.”
The terrifying moment was a turning point for the musician, who says he later realized something was “not right” about how he felt.
Elsewhere in the documentary, MGK reflects on the positive impact Fox has had on him.
“Megan became like the sun for me, like the sun that I revolve around and gives me life and helps me grow,” he said. “It’s like all the fairy tales that you were never told in school, that you were never taught. As if the passion between us was from another world. I know I have known her in many other lives.”
