The press release does not reveal the amount of the operation, but Logitech clearly aspires to compete in this way with Elgato, acquired in turn by Corsair in 2018 to gain a foothold in the market for products for streamers.
The Loupedeck Live S is a natural rival to the Elgato Stream Deck.
Just as Elgato’s Stream Deck was born as an electronic entertainment product, Loupedeck was designed from the ground up with the video professional in mind and then expanded its horizons after a successful launch on Indiegogo in 2016. Since then the company has been expanding its catalog with the help of several former Nokia designers, as The Verge points out, ranging from consoles for streaming like the Live S, a direct rival to the Stream Deck and priced at 199 euros, to the Loupedeck CT production console, which for 499 euros offers keyboard-type physical controls, configurable haptic buttons, six dials, and a wheel with a touch screen.
For now Logitech has not communicated what it intends to do with the Loupedeck brand, which has some recognition. Just as Corsair maintains a certain distance from its subsidiaries, letting them operate as independent brands, the Swiss firm usually includes them as sub-brands within the Logitech G seal.
As a curious detail, Loupedeck had already sold its products under another brand, and that is that its hardware and software are the basis of the Razer Stream Controller.
Loupedeck devices have profiles and options for the most popular editing programs.
