July 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Libyan security forces have released 237 migrants, ten of them minors, held at a farm located in a suburb of Tobruk, in the east of the country, near the border with Egypt.

Most of the migrants rescued east of the city are of Egyptian and Pakistani nationality, according to the Libyan daily ‘Alwasat’.

Eastern Libyan strongman Halifa Jaftar ordered his reinforcements to be deployed to Tobruk and Emssaed in June in operations against smugglers and to control security, after the Libyan News Agency in Benghazi reported the arrest of 1,000 hiding in smugglers’ farms and safe houses in Emssaed.

In addition, Tobruk security officials began an indefinite night curfew on June 4 after days of tension between security forces and local residents after the death of a young man during clashes between border guards and people smugglers. .

At the beginning of June, the Ministry of the Interior also reported the discovery of 14 sub-Saharan migrants who were wandering lost, in danger of dying, in the desert of the border area with Tunisia, amid constant criticism from international NGOs of the Libyan authorities, accused of mistreatment and marginalization against the sub-Saharan population.
