( Spanish) – Geoff Payne, father of the late British musician Liam Payne, visited the memorial site outside the hotel on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires, where his son died.

Liam Payne, former member of the group One Direction, died on Wednesday after falling from the third floor of a hotel, a fact that is under investigation by local authorities and that has caused shock among his fans and the entertainment world.

His body was taken to the morgue for clinical analysis. It is still unclear what will happen to the body.

Payne died from “polytrauma” with “internal and external hemorrhage,” according to the preliminary report of the autopsy carried out on Wednesday by the Argentine forensic body investigating the case and that obtained from the Buenos Aires City Police. The toxicological report is still pending.

It is not yet clear whether Payne jumped from the balcony of his room or accidentally fell. Buenos Aires police previously told The Associated Press in a statement that they believe the former, but did not elaborate on how they reached that conclusion and referred to prosecutors for more information.
