The South Korean manufacturer has announced its news for CES 2023, which starts this week in Las Vegas. Among them we find its renewed range of OLED televisions, made up of the Z3, G3 and C3/B3 models. All these models make use of a new sixth-generation α9 AI image processor, with improved scaling and tone mapping dynamic, intelligent object enhancement for more realistic HDR and virtual 9.1.2 sound. But what is more important in the specific case of the G3 model: LG promises a 70% increase in brightness compared to a conventional OLED TV.
This percentage has fine print, because LG does not define what a “conventional” OLED is, so it is not clear if it is talking about the OLED EX / Evo presented last year, which improved what is present by 30% or if it refers to the previous ones. Be that as it may, they are already important figures. OLED-Info indicates that, thanks to a new Micro Lens Array (MLA), the LG G3 will top out at no less than 2,100 nits, which is a truly high amount for an OLED display. This should already be enough to capture a very good quality HDR and watch TV without the need to draw the curtains even on a sunny day.
Likewise, LG’s new 2023 OLED televisions will incorporate a revision of the webOS platform with themed “Quick Cards” for categories such as games, sports, action, etc. It will also provide more extensive customization options and greater ease of use (although that, like the sound, will have to be seen in person).
Size lists and specific specifications will be revealed later, but we do know that the LG A3, currently the most basic option, will be offered in 48-, 65-, and 77-inch sizes at 60Hz. There will also be a refreshed B3 line. at 120 Hz. For its part, the LG Z8 will complete the high-end offering 8K resolution in sizes of 77 and 83 inches. The prices will be communicated as its launch in each country approaches.
