The largest of all organic TVs benefits from a new generation OLED display that provides up to 30% brightness improvement over previous models. It is also capable of generating more accurate post-processed images thanks to its α 9 Gen5 chip and provides 5.1 audio using multiple hidden speakers.
Speaking precisely of the acoustic section, the 97-inch Gallery Edition TV integrates a rather peculiar sound system, since it is also capable of generating audio by vibrating the screen as if it were an independent speaker. This peculiar method of reproducing sound was advanced in the experimental phase for large-format screens at CES 2021 and is reminiscent of Sony’s Acoustic Surface technology, although the truth is that the manufacturer has already used it without much success on the LG G8 ThinQ phone.
The rest of the technical specifications are for now unknown. LG doesn’t even mention the resolution, but we do know that this is a strictly 4K model. Nor have important data been provided, such as the refresh rate of the panel or the number of connectors.
According to LG in its official statement, the 97-inch OLED evo Gallery Edition TV will be available soon and “in the coming weeks” the launch details will be communicated, which for now will be limited to what the company describes as “key markets” .
As for the price, here the old saying applies that if you have to ask, it is not for you, but it serves as a guide that FlatPanelsHD was able to confirm a reference PVP of 25,000 euros back in March, long before its debut. It remains to be seen if LG keeps it or if it can’t avoid the rise that other consumer electronics products are experiencing.
