The Israeli authorities have confirmed this Friday that a letter threatening Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been located at the grave of his brother, Yonathan Netanyahu, who died in 1976 during a hostage rescue operation at the Ugandan Entebbe airport.
The Police have indicated that there are investigators trying to determine who would have left the letter at the grave of Netanyahu’s brother, buried on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, although they have specified that for now there are no detainees, as reported by the Israeli newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’.
“How are you, Yoni, hero?” Picks up the letter, using Jonathan’s nickname. “I have been asked to inform your brother, Pipi Netanyahu, that little or much is happening to him, but he is done,” she says, referring to the prime minister’s nickname, “Bibi.”
“From here, Mount Herzl, this holy place, the clock runs to the date your brother, the son of a bitch, thinks he will be 74 years old,” he said in a message to Jonathan Netanyahu, before indicating that ” makes it clear that this is a major threat.”
It also stresses that Netanyahu “is no better than (Ariel) Sharon” and wishes him to have a worse fate than that of the former Israeli prime minister, who died in January 2014 after eight years in a vegetative state following a stroke.
The person responsible for the letter also says that one of his objectives is “to reconquer the Gaza Strip” and to recover the body of Hadar Holding, whose body is in the hands of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) –along with that of Oron Shaul- – after his death in combat during the war in the Palestinian enclave in 2014.
The Shin Bet has stressed that it will use “all the tools” at its disposal to locate the person responsible for the letter, while sources from the organization cited by ‘The Times of Israel’ have stressed that “they will not ignore a direct threat against the prime minister that has been placed on the grave of an Israeli hero”.
