Less is more: Google Maps launches a new ‘look’ to help you avoid getting lost in the app

Google Maps

Google Maps, the most popular and most used mapping app in the world, continues to receive improvements that keep it at the top of the list. In this case, it was the interface’s turn.

The most important change You will be able to see it in the bottom bar, which has been redesigned with the idea that the result that the user sees will lead to easier navigation and faster access to the functions..

Previously, the bottom bar of Google Maps had several buttons that could be a bit confusing for some users. Now, Google has simplified this bar and left it with just three main tabs: Explore, You, and Contribute.

On the other hand, some small design touches have also been added to the application. The interface is now more visual, with more detailed maps and high-quality photos. New functions have also been added, such as the possibility of following routes on public transport more precisely or finding places accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Google Maps is kept as simple as possible with three main tabs: Explore, You, and Contribute

  • Explore: This tab is like your gateway to everything. You can search for anything from restaurants and shops to parks and landmarks here. It’s your starting point for finding new places and planning your trips.
  • You: It’s personalized for you and shows you all the information that matters most to you, such as places you’ve saved as favorites, your planned trips, and notifications. It’s like a personal space where you can find everything you need at a glance.
  • Contribute: If you want to help other users, this tab allows you to edit information about places, such as opening hours, phone numbers, or addresses. You can also submit photos and reviews to show others how delicious the food is at your favorite restaurant.

Basically, by having the most important functions grouped into three tabs, you can find what you need faster, ultimately making using Maps almost “jack of all trades.”
