According to the Lebanese health authorities, in the last 24 hours alone, 62 deaths and more than 110 injuries have been reported. Most of the victims of the last day were located in the Baalbek-Hermel governorate in the northeast of the country, where at least 49 people were killed and another 54 were injured.
After this region, the second most affected governorate is Nabatiye, located in the southeast and where eight people died and another 31 were injured; In the Southern governorate, five dead and 25 injured have been confirmed, while in the Mount Lebanon governorate, Israeli attacks have left another injured.
On the other hand, the Lebanese Ministry of Health has specified that of the total number of deaths, at least 2,530 are men, another nearly 700 are women and more than 230 are children. The high number of injuries is due to the coordinated explosion of communication devices linked to Hezbollah last September.
THE DIRECTOR OF A BAALBEK HOSPITAL DIES
Beyond updating the toll of victims of the Israeli attacks, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health has reported an IDF attack against the home of the director of the Dar al Amal hospital, Dr. Ali Rakam Allam, who lived near the health center. .
The Lebanese health ministry recalled in a publication on its social networks that Allam “was known for his closeness to the people”, and regretted that his death is “a great loss.” Allam has died along with “six of his colleagues who worked at the hospital.”
“Allam’s martyrdom is a great loss, as he was known for his closeness to the people and his quick response to their needs, and always showed professional commitment and dedication in the management of Dar Al Amal hospital, which is the largest hospital of the Baalbek-Hermel governorate,” added the aforementioned ministry.
Finally, the Lebanese Ministry of Health has stressed that the Dar al Amal hospital “plays an important role” in dealing with emergencies arising from the Israeli offensive, and has denounced the constant attacks by the Army against health personnel, which is constitutive of “war crimes”.
The resurgence in hostilities is part of the clashes that began more than a year ago, after Hezbollah attacked Israeli territory a day after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which led Israel to unleash a bloody offensive against the Gaza Strip, where 44,000 people have already died.
The Israeli Army unleashed a new invasion of Lebanon on October 1 after several weeks of intense bombings and attacks against the country, including the aforementioned coordinated explosion of thousands of ‘pagers’ and ‘walkie-talkies’ linked to Hezbollah, after more than eleven months of fighting with Hezbollah in the border area.
