MADRID 20 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reported this Wednesday that at least 3,558 people have died and another 15,123 have been injured, victims of attacks launched by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for more than a year in the context of the war against the Shiite party-militia Hezbollah.
According to health authorities, the Israeli attacks of the last day have left at least 14 dead and 87 injured, mostly in the Southern governorate, with seven dead and another 67 injured. In Nabatiye there have been six deaths and 17 injured, while in Beirut there has been one death and in Baalbek-Hermel at least three injured.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health has broken down part of the data, pointing out that more than 2,500 of the deceased are men, more than 670 are women and another more than 230 are minors. The high number of injuries is due in part to the coordinated explosion of communication devices that surprised the Lebanese population at the beginning of September.
Likewise, the health authorities have detailed on their social networks, a total of 214 members of health personnel have died as victims of the Israeli attacks, while more than 320 others have been injured. On the other hand, more than 130 health facilities have suffered damage.
The Israeli Army unleashed a new invasion of Lebanon on October 1 after several weeks of intense bombings and attacks against the country, including the aforementioned coordinated explosion of thousands of ‘pagers’ and ‘walkie-talkies’ linked to Hezbollah, after more than eleven months of fighting with Hezbollah in the border area.
The resurgence in hostilities is part of the clashes that began more than a year ago, after Hezbollah attacked Israeli territory a day after the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which led Israel to unleash a bloody offensive against the Gaza Strip, where almost 44,000 people have already died.
