Le Pen calls for an absolute majority in the second round for "freedom, security and fraternity"

June 30 () –

The leader of the far-right National Rally party, Marine Le Pen, has thanked the votes that have given her victory in the first round of the French legislative elections held this Sunday and has called for achieving an absolute majority in the second round , scheduled for seven days.

“We need an absolute majority. Such a high turnout gives a particular strength to the vote,” said Le Pen, calling for the “recovery of France” to be launched. “I ask you to join the coalition of liberty, security and fraternity. Mobilise so that the people win!” she said to applause from her supporters.

The leader of the far-right party particularly thanked the voters of the 11th constituency of Pas-de-Calais for their votes, who elected her directly to a seat in the first round. She also welcomed the results, which “completely wiped out” the bloc that supported the current president, Emmanuel Macron.

Le Pen has asked to be “careful” with those who “using unjustified fears or invented threats, only want to perpetuate a system that has failed.” In that sense, he stressed that “no Frenchman will lose rights.” “On the contrary, rights will be guaranteed and, as soon as the situation allows, new ones will be created,” he promised.

“For the good of all, my dear compatriots, this June 30, 2024, hope is reborn in the country, on July 7, mobilize so that the people win! Long live the Republic! Long live France!” he stressed.

A spokesperson for the National Rally, Laure Lavalette, has also asked to “wait until next week”. “We represent security and identity, and the New Popular Front represents the opposite: mass immigration. Jordan Bardella wants to unite people. I am telling all French people to join this great alternation, for real change,” she said on TF1.
