Le Pen accuses the Prosecutor's Office of wanting to "exclude her from political life" after requesting her disqualification for embezzlement

MADRID 14 Nov. () –

The leader of the National Rally (AN), Marine Le Pen, accused the Prosecutor’s Office this Wednesday of trying to “exclude her from political life” and “deprive her and the French of the ability to vote for whoever they want”, after that the Public Ministry has requested five years in prison for her and disqualification from public office for crimes of embezzlement of European Union funds.

“The only thing he was interested in was Marine Le Pe, so he could demand her exclusion from political life, and the National Rally to ruin the party,” he told a group of journalists after the hearing in which the Paris Prosecutor’s Office requested a fine of 4.3 million euros, including two million suspended, for training. The deputy of the National Assembly for Pas-de-Calais faces a fine of 300,000 euros.

During her intervention reported by the newspaper ‘Le Figaro’, the far-right politician criticized the “excesses” of the Public Ministry, which she described as “outrageous” and “violent” for demanding a conviction against her based on accusations that has denied during the judicial process.

Le Pen “hopes” that the court, which will deliberate its ruling in November, “will not comply” with the requests of the Prosecutor’s Office. Otherwise, he could see his 2027 presidential aspirations frustrated and would block his re-election to the National Assembly in the event of a new dissolution in a few months.

Le Pen and 26 other AN members are being tried in a case of alleged false parliamentary assistants with whom they have embezzled funds worth at least three million euros from the European Union. Specifically, Le Pen is accused of paying three assistants who work on behalf of the party and with EU funds.

The Prosecutor’s Office has requested 18 months in prison, including six months without prison with three years of disqualification against the number two of the party, Louis Aliot; 10 months of suspension and one year of ineligibility against AN spokesperson Julien Odoul, and 18 months of suspension and two years of ineligibility for Marine Le Pen’s sister, Yann Le Pen.

With a photo of Marine Le Pen and himself in support, Jordan Bardella spoke in X of “relentlessness” and “revenge against Marine Le Pen.” “Their scandalous demands aim to deprive millions of French people of their vote in 2027. It is an attack on democracy,” said the RN president.

With the probable presidential election in mind, his counterpart from the Reconquista, Éric Zemmour, has resumed his fondness for the “government of the judges.” And the fourth man in the 2022 election added: “Whatever our disagreements, it is certainly not for the courts to decide who can be a candidate.”
