Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed on Tuesday that he received a message from the US authorities on matters related to the invasion of Ukraine during his meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Samé Sukri, in Cairo and after he met the day before with the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken.
Lavrov, who has indicated that Russia is “willing to listen to any serious proposal that seeks to comprehensively resolve the current conflict,” said during a joint press conference that Blinken’s message “asked Russia to stop its actions to give way to to successful negotiations”.
However, he has qualified that these, precisely, are “serious proposals”. “I want to emphasize that when we refer to something serious it implies that all aspects of the matter are included,” she said, according to information from the newspaper ‘Al Ahram’.
“Everything is clear, we are not talking about Ukraine, not at all,” he pointed out before qualifying that “the kyiv regime, which does not have independence, complies with the will of the United States and the rest of the West.” In this sense, he has declared that the message of the United States “is incomplete.”
