6 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, landed this Thursday in the Turkish capital, Ankara, as part of a two-day visit in which he will take the opportunity to talk with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Both diplomatic representatives are expected to address bilateral relations between Turkey and Russia with special attention to the war in Ukraine, including the implementation of the recently renewed wheat export agreement.

Also, Lavrov and Cavusoglu will talk about the conflict in Nagorno Karabagh with a view to trying to normalize the situation; while the Russian Foreign Minister will also try to facilitate dialogue between Turkey and Syria.

Finally, the Russian authorities have insisted that Lavrov and Cavusoglu will not put aside the issue of guaranteeing the comprehensive security of Russian citizens in Turkish territory, even more so as the next summer tourist season approaches.
