The online RPG The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO) expands its experience with Gold Road, an expansion that, as its launch trailer indicates, is now available for PC. The version for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series will arrive on June 18. Those interested in this new content have already been able to take a look at it thanks to a prologue, which has served to introduce characters and begin to discover the background of this new chapter in the history of the title developed by ZeniMax Online Studio.

The big news about Gold Road is the expansion of Tamriel with the addition of the Western Forest, a new and prosperous imperial region that can be divided into three zones: the Golden Road, the Colovian Highlands and the Aurora Forest. Both the Colovian Highlands and the Golden Path are regions populated primarily by Imperials, including the inhabitants of the city of Skingrad. There players will encounter a new Daedric threat. For its part, the Aurora Forest is a jungle that has attracted a large community of wood elves.

“The biggest threat to the Western Forest is not knowing what’s going on,” says Ed Stark, developer at ZeniMax Online Studios. “In fact, it all seems to have happened overnight. And what about the Mirrored Wasteland raids that are happening everywhere? No one knows where these new daedra are coming from or how to stop them.” Regarding the inhabitants of the Aurora Forest, Stark details that they are elves from the Valen Forest who have come there following their leader and now king Nantharion. In this new land the ruins of Colovian buildings have been found as well as a few Colovians who, in general, have behaved like peaceful emigrants.

At the story level, Gold Road presents us with a Western Forest plunged into chaos by the return of Ithelia, a forgotten Daedric princess. The servants and scions of Ithelia have just awakened and have gathered the strength they have to go in search of her, and they believe that the Western Forest is a good place to start. Players will have to head in the same direction, but their mission will be to find allies to face this new threat and restore stability to the Western Forest and the rest of Tamriel.

Another new feature that Gold Road players will encounter is the scribe, a new system that offers the opportunity to further customize the role-playing aspects and combat abilities of the characters. This option allows you to create and customize unique skills.

“Scribe is a new system focused on roles and decisions, so we’ve given both of those things a lot of influence over skills,” says Kira Ross Schlitt of ZeniMax Online Studios. “There are now eleven new abilities that can be customized, called grimoires. Each of these grimoires can be adapted in three different ways. A focal script that allows you to change its main function, a distinctive script that gives access to very interesting unique effects, and a complementary writing associated with the system of major and minor advantages that you already know and that you like so much.
