The National Circular Economy Strategy is the result of a process of inter-institutional work between representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), Ministry of the Environment (MA), Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). Actors from the private sector, academia, and civil society organizations (NGOs) also participated.
Starting in 2023, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) accompanied the process through a technical assistance format, which had financial resources from the German Cooperation to achieve it through the “Inclusive, sustainable and intelligent cities” project. of the cooperation program between ECLAC, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of Germany and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
The launch event will be attended by authorities and representatives of the four ministries who will present the Flows and prioritized lines of action to be implemented within the framework of the National Circular Economy Strategy of Uruguay. There will also be the participation of representatives from ECLAC and UNIDO who will present the advances of the circular economy at a global level and in the Latin American and Caribbean region.
