21 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Latvia’s Defense Minister Inara Murniece has announced that her country will transfer all of its Stinger air defense systems, a US-designed infrared-guided surface-to-air missile, to Ukraine.

This was recounted by Minister Murniece during her speech at the eleventh meeting of the Contact Group for Ukraine, at the US Ramstein base in Germany. “We will do everything possible to deliver them as quickly as possible,” she said, according to the Latvian news portal LSM.

It has also reported that Latvia will train some 3,000 Ukrainian soldiers until the end of the year, which is double compared to 2022.

Latvia, like its Baltic neighbors and Poland, has emerged as one of Ukraine’s main regional partners since the start of the Russian invasion fourteen months ago now.

With its new economic and military aid package for Ukraine, Latvia has already spent 370 million euros, which is more than 1 percent of its GDP.
