Sánchez condemns the assassination attempt against Fernández de Kichner: “Hate and violence will never defeat democracy”
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has expressed this Friday his condemnation of the assassination attempt against the Vice President of Argentina, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, to whom he has sent his support.
“Our resounding condemnation of this assassination attempt and support for Vice President Cristina Fernández and all the Argentine people,” Sánchez wrote on his Twitter profile, conveying his “affection and solidarity” to the Vice President.
“Hate and violence will never defeat democracy,” added the president.
A man has been arrested on Thursday night after pointing a firearm at the face of the Argentine vice president, who was able to crouch down in the middle of the escorts who protected her when she arrived at her home in the capital’s Recoleta neighborhood. The detainee, a 35-year-old Brazilian critical of the Argentine government, had a criminal record in the improper use of weapons.
