Reyes Maroto assures that the PP is the “only one that is generating confusion” with energy saving measures
The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has reproached the Popular Party for “creating confusion” regarding the energy saving measures approved by the Government, while she has thanked merchants and hoteliers for their “positive attitude” towards time to apply them.
In an interview on Antena 3, Maroto explained that Spain is anticipating the Brussels proposal on cutting gas consumption with the implementation of the energy saving decree, which came into force this Wednesday. He has also highlighted that these are “measures that are simple to apply”, such as limiting the maximum and minimum temperature of heating and air conditioning in public buildings, as well as turning off lights in shop windows.
“We are talking about raising the thermostat one degree, of bringing forward the shutdown of shop windows by two hours, simple measures that merchants, hoteliers and the people who have to apply them have understood perfectly. Here the confusion has been generated by the Popular Party”, the minister pointed out.
Maroto has also been surprised by the decision made by the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, to cancel the LuzMadrid festival “for exactly the same reason that he is criticizing us for the adoption of the royal decree law, which is the energy saving”, he concluded.

The PP is willing to dialogue with the Government about the energy savings requested by the EU, but “not through impositions”
The Deputy Secretary of Organization of the PP, Miguel Tellado, has assured this Friday that his party is willing to dialogue with the Government of Pedro Sánchez on the energy saving measures that Brussels demands to reduce gas consumption in the face of winter, but has warned that they will not do it “based on impositions”.
“The PP is open to dialogue about the measures that the European Union demands of us, but not through impositions. In Spain, government is governed by decree and what Spain needs is more dialogue, especially between the state parties”, Tellado said at a press conference held in Santander after the meeting of the Steering Committee of the PP of Cantabria.
The PP, the deputy secretary continued, supports the “rationalization of energy use”, but not the energy saving decree recently approved by the central government, since, in his opinion, it is “the product of improvisation”. “The Autonomous Communities have not been spoken to, nor have the consequences for sectors such as tourism or hospitality been measured,” he insisted.
“Unfortunately, Sánchez prefers to speak with the radical parties with which he has supported himself for his investiture, but he neither wants nor can agree with the PP due to his arrogance and his partners,” Tellado stressed.
The leader of the PP has assured that his party has reached out to the Government on several occasions, proposing, for example, a pact of economic measures that included energy measures or a pact on security, and yet, “they said no” , has sentenced.
