Lantania has been awarded a project by the independent energy producer Prosolia Energy to build a 43 megawatt (MW) solar park in the municipality of Covilha, in the Castelo Branco region (Portugal), whose development involves an investment of more than 30 millions of euros.
Prosolia will include this facility within its operating assets and will have the help of Lantania for the engineering, start-up and operation of the plant, as reported by the Spanish infrastructure company.
The Boidobra ground-based solar plant will have a peak installed power of about 43 MW, of which 36 MW will be installed using a fixed structure and the remaining 7 MW in a tracker-type structure.
Lantania has already started work in the generation field and is expected to conclude in a year, with the installation of 78,820 solar panels distributed over 28.5 hectares, which will be capable of supplying some 70,000 MWh/year, which corresponds to the consumption of 16,000 families.
The clean energy that this park will generate will save the emission into the atmosphere of 18,000 tons of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to planting 800,000 trees, included in the 300 MW portfolio of large-scale energy projects that Prosolia currently has in construction, and whose execution will be carried out throughout the first half of 2023.
Within this portfolio of renewables is the San Jorge photovoltaic solar power plant, in Castellón, also built by Lantania, and five other renewable solutions for a total of 110 MW on land in Portugal.
Prosolia Energy will invest more than 140 million euros in this initiative to increase its portfolio, including industrial self-consumption projects on roofs and ground, and to formalize its consolidation in the market as an independent energy producer.
For its part, Lantania has four parallel photovoltaic solar parks in progress, totaling nearly 150 MW, distributed throughout the peninsula, as well as more than 300 MW of photovoltaic projects completed and in commercial operation.
