A Facebook group doesn’t get any applause from Lady Gaga.
The Grammy Award-winning singer responded to her former NYU classmates who cruelly started a closed Facebook group titled: “Stefani Germanotta, you will never be famous.”
“Some people I went to college with did this a long time ago,” Gaga said. “That’s why you can’t give up when people doubt you or put you down; you have to keep going.”
Gaga’s response came in the wake of a viral TikTok posted on Tuesday, which showed the infamous page dissing the singer.
The page’s cover photo is an old image of Gaga, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, when she was a younger, dark-skinned woman with a black X over her face.
The next slide of the TikTok post showed a photo of the “Shallow” singer holding an Oscar with a list of all her awards including 13 Grammys, two Golden Globes, 18 MTV Video Music Awards and many other achievements.
Fans praised the singer’s reaction and rise to success in the comments section of the TikTok video.
“Success is the best revenge,” one person wrote.
“She’s not just famous, she’s THE FAME,” another user added.
The now-deleted Facebook group, created by her classmates at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, had 12 members at the time of the screenshot.
Gaga began singing and playing piano at an early age and claimed to have been bullied as a pre-teen. She received early admission to New York University after performing at open mic nights at clubs during high school.
Gaga has spoken openly about her experience with bullying during high school and college.
“That stays with you for life. I remember things that bullies would say in front of other people and nobody would say anything,” Gaga told the Australian television series. In a post on her X account on September 3, the singer shared a photo showing his itinerary for the Venice Film Festival which included a welcome dinner, the world premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux” followed by some press events. The next section presented the film, starring Joaquin Phoenix, which will hit theaters in October with another line reading “XX October: first single from LG7.”
Fans believe she is planning to release the first song from her highly anticipated seventh studio album sometime in October.
