Police detain two civilians in the Ukrainian capital for filming the work of anti-aircraft defense systems

May 29. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The main adviser to the Presidency of Ukraine, Mikhailo Podoliak, has once again reiterated not only to the civilian population, but also to state and local officials, that it is prohibited to disseminate images and videos of the national defense forces that could compromise the country security.

Podoliak has launched a publication on his official Telegram channel where he questions whether “a publication is worth more than life”, and recalls that Ukraine has been immersed in a context of constant air alert and “high level of danger” for fifteen months, after the Russian invasion.

“What other words should be used to explain to all the regional officials, mayors and Instagram bloggers that it is not allowed to post air defense work, photos of the places where rockets have landed and the list of attack targets,” has asserted the main presidential adviser.

Podoliak praised that, despite being immersed in “a great war”, the Ukrainian state “has not restricted freedom of expression and has not introduced censorship”. “Everyone remains free to collect and disseminate information that does not threaten national security and defense,” he said.

Thus, the president’s adviser, Volodimir Zelenski, has warned that publishing content that could jeopardize national security is at the level of “criminal negligence” and, in the case of government officials, “the abuse of information to which they have access ex officio”.

“True ‘adulthood’ is not about passport age, it’s about understanding what you can do and what you absolutely shouldn’t do,” Podoliak said.

TWO ARRESTED FOR RECORDING THE ARMY

This warning from Podoliak comes on a day when Kiev security agents detained two civilians who were recording the work of air defense systems with their mobile phones during a Russian missile attack.

“The Kiev Police once again recalls the ban on recording photos and videos of the work of the anti-aircraft defense. Keep the informative silence, because silence is a reliable rearguard of our defenders,” the capital’s Police said.

The Ukrainian authorities have reiterated on successive occasions the prohibition of publishing information or images on conflictive points in the country or where active fighting is taking place to prevent this from benefiting the interests of the Russian Armed Forces in the context of the conflict.
