27 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Southern Operational Command of the Ukrainian Army has reported this Thursday that the Italian journalist wounded on Wednesday in Kherson, Corrado Zunino, “ignored the warnings of the Ukrainian military”, stressing that this caused the death of his collaborator, an identified local citizen like Bogdan Bitik.

Thus, it stresses that the reporter for the newspaper ‘La Repubblica’ “did not report his work in the city” to the responsible press officers. “Once on the spot he ignored the first warnings from the Ukrainian military about the danger.”

The military authorities have indicated that Zunino, “as leader” of the group, was “obliged” to verify that his collaborator “was not only wearing a vest with the PRESS inscription, but also a bulletproof vest” and they insist: “the Italian broke the rules of conduct of journalists in combat”.

“In any case, killing and injuring journalists is another Russian war crime,” Operational Command South concludes in a statement.

The Ukrainian Army has detailed that the two journalists -Zunino was wounded- were seen in the middle of a bombardment by Kremlin forces on the Antonivka bridge in Kherson.
