Kuwait denounces a false terrorist attack against US forces at one of its bases

Aug. 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Kuwaiti security authorities have denied this Saturday an attack with a drone against US forces at a base in the emirate, which was claimed by the hitherto unknown Iraqi group, related to Iran, called Al Waretheen (The heirs).

This group published images of an alleged attack that occurred on August 12 against the 386 Air Expeditionary Wing of the United States Army at the Ali Al Salem air base.

The attack, the group added, was aimed at avenging the US drone aerial assault that killed the military architect of Iranian foreign policy, General Qasem Soleimani, in Iraq in January 2020.

In response, Kuwaiti security sources have assured the ‘Al Qabas’ outlet that such an attack never took place and that it appears to be a “propaganda operation”.

“The sources confirmed that this statement is completely false, they emphasized that the country’s air defense system is strong and highly effective and capable of deterring any aggression, and that there were no penetrations into the airspace,” according to the outlet.

“These allegations by some Iraqi militias are not new, as they have been repeated before with the aim of sowing confusion and spreading lies, and working to disrupt relations between Kuwait and Iraq,” the sources add.
