Latest news on the war between Ukraine and Russia
Oct. 18 () –
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dimitro Kuleba, has invited his president, Volodimir Zelensky, to cut diplomatic relations with Iran after Russia has attacked Ukrainian cities with kamikaze drones allegedly supplied by Tehran.
As detailed by Kuleba, “Iran’s actions are meanness and lies” that kyiv should not be willing to tolerate because, while Tehran claims to be against the war and distances itself from supporting one side or the other, it is allegedly sending drones to Moscow.
“In view of the great destruction inflicted by Iranian drones on civilian infrastructure, death and suffering to our people (…) I am submitting the proposal to the president of Ukraine to break diplomatic relations with Iran,” he said. foreign minister
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy has stressed that kyiv “has never taken an anti-Iranian position”, but that now it is forced to make a “clear and honest” decision against Tehran after it has become an “accomplice” from Moscow. “If Iran stops supplying weapons to Russia, we will talk about restoring relations,” he has said.
Ukraine, and a large part of the international community, have accused Iran of supplying drones to Russia with which its Armed Forces carry out attacks against Ukrainian infrastructure. These suspicions already served the withdrawal of his accreditation to the Iranian ambassador in kyiv at the end of September.
