The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dimitro Kuleba, has remarked this Friday that Russia’s place is in the International Criminal Court (ICC) and not in other global forums.
“To be honest, I think that after everything Russia has done in the last six months it has no place in any international forum,” Kuleba said during his videoconference speech at a G20 ministerial meeting taking place this week in Bali, Indonesia.
“A country that is waging a war of aggression against its neighbor and committing massive and brutal crimes against the civilian population should only be offered a place – in the International Criminal Court,” the Ukrainian minister insisted.
In this sense, Kuleba has emphasized the need for the international community to have the necessary tools to protect itself from those who choose to reject the names and principles defended by the bulk of the planet and prefer to follow the rules of brute force and ultimatum.
Kuleba reminded his counterparts that the war started by Russia has consequences beyond the Ukrainian borders, and that these have already been felt in the countries of the vast majority of those who have attended the G20 meeting.
During Kuleba’s appearance, the Russian Foreign Minister, Serguei Lavrov, preferred to be absent, while the rest of the participants avoided taking the traditional photo to avoid appearing with the head of Kremlin diplomacy, who, knowing this, has left the conference, according to the Ukrinform news agency.
As a prelude to the summit of G20 heads of state scheduled for November 2022 in Bali, this Thursday a two-day meeting began on the island between the foreign ministries of the twenty most developed economies in the world.
