The Kremlin has affirmed this Monday that it pays “great attention” to the proposal presented by China to achieve a peace agreement for the war in Ukraine, at the same time that it has stated that it will submit it to “careful analysis”.

“Any attempt to develop plans that contribute to taking the conflict to a peaceful path deserves attention,” said the spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.

“We approach the plan of the Chinese friends with great attention,” he said, before stressing that “the details will be subjected to a careful analysis that takes into account the interests of the various parties.”

Thus, he has explained that “this is a very long and intense process” and has stressed that “there are no prerequisites for the publication of a proposal that leads to peace.” “The special military operation continues and we are advancing towards the materialization of the objectives set”, he stressed.

Peskov has also declined to comment on the possibility that Beijing is considering handing over weapons to Russia in the context of the invasion of Ukraine. “There is no need to comment on this. This information was refuted by China,” he said.

On the other hand, he has denied that Moscow is considering returning the Crimean peninsula, occupied in 2014, and has stressed that “it is an integral part of the Russian Federation. Kiev has stated on several occasions that the peace plan must contemplate the end of the Russian occupation of the peninsula.
