South Korea’s Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy Lee Chang-yang met with Ghana’s Trade and Industry Minister Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen in Seoul to discuss economic cooperation and request support for the Busan World Expo 2030.

Minister Lee explained the Korean government’s strong aspirations to host the World Expo in Busan and requested Ghana’s support. Minister Kyerematen responded that Korea’s request will be considered positively.

The bilateral talks provided a boost to cooperation that gained strength on the occasion of the Korea-Ghana summits, including Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo’s recent visit to Ghana.

As Ghana is the economic hub and a member of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), these talks aim to boost economic cooperation in all areas, including agriculture, industry and nuclear energy.

Minister Lee highlighted the fact that the two countries’ complementary business structures allow for great potential in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors, and encouraged Ghana to take policy measures to improve the investment environment and attract more Korean companies. to Ghana.

He said he hoped the newly established Korean auto assembly plant would help expand Ghana’s manufacturing base.

Asking Minister Kyerematen about Korea’s interest and involvement in Ghana’s nuclear power plant project and its target for commercial exploitation by 2030, Minister Lee referred to Korea’s strong supply chain and rich experience in the operation of nuclear power plants.

He also mentioned Korea’s ability to deliver the project on time and on budget, stressing that Korea will be the optimal partner in nuclear power, and looking forward to the participation of Korean companies in the reactor project. Ghana Nuclear.
