The Government of France has announced this Friday that the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, will visit Paris on January 9 to meet with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, all within the framework of his international tour in which he will also visit other European countries and the United States.
Kishida and Macron will hold a business dinner at the Elysée Palace and then visit the Notre Dame Cathedral. Both leaders will address France’s support for Japan, who will assume the G7 Presidency in 2023, as detailed by the French Executive in a statement.
Likewise, both leaders will reaffirm their attachment to the G7 action in support of Ukraine, in response to “Russian aggression and its global consequences”, as well as in the face of major global issues such as climate, food security and the fight against inequality. .
“The meeting will also be the occasion to reaffirm the ambition of the two countries for the exceptional partnership that unites them, particularly in the fields of energy, defense, emerging technologies or the bis of culture. The two leaders will finally discuss their partnership in the Indo-Pacific region, a region in which the head of state continues his determined action to work for stability and cooperation in the face of common challenges,” the note wields.
Macron and Kishida will visit the reconstruction works of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, a “symbol of this common desire to rebuild in the face of adversity.”
