Kim meets Russian military delegation led by deputy defense minister in Pyongyang

North Korean leader calls for “more unified” armies to defend regional and world peace

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met Thursday with a Russian military delegation led by Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko, where the North Korean leader stressed the need for their respective armies to “unite more firmly” to play an “important role” in defending both regional and world peace.

“(Kim) stressed the need for the two countries’ armies, bound by long historical tradition and military ties, to unite more firmly to dynamically lead the DPRK-Russia relations in the new era and play an important role in upholding regional and world peace and international justice,” reads a statement shared by North Korea’s state news agency, KCNA.

In this regard, both sides have recognised the “importance” and “need” for greater military cooperation to defend their common security interests.

Kim also congratulated the Russian army and people for their “sacred war for justice, sovereignty and security” of their country, and reiterated his strong support and solidarity with their “special operation” in Ukraine.
