The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, has inspected a strategic missile base, from where he highlighted that the “strategic nuclear means” of the United States “pose an increasing threat” to the security of his country.

Kim has stressed the “need” to modernize and strengthen strategic missile bases and “make all bases fully prepared to maintain a complete counterattack posture capable of quickly delivering a counterattack to enemies at any time and under different circumstances.” .

“Noting that the strategic missile force is the core force that plays a fundamental role in Korea’s war deterrence, he stressed that it is an important principle of the strategy for building national defense,” he added.

These statements take place after both South Korea and Ukraine have denounced the sending of the first North Korean troops to Russia for subsequent deployment within the framework of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, an issue that has raised all alarms regarding to the growing military cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang.

While North Korea has called the accusations about its alleged sending of troops to Russia “unfounded rumors”, its southern neighbor has indicated that it is considering the possibility of sending personnel to Ukraine to monitor whether such a deployment occurs.
