“She did almost a reverse psychology with me,” he said. “She was like, ‘Oh, I totally get it. If I were you, I’d probably feel this way. And I was like, ‘But have they started?’ She says, ‘Oh yeah.’ In fact, they are already in Poland scouting locations; people are hired.’”
“I thought, ‘Isn’t it like people would be out of work?’” he continued. “She says, ‘No, no, they would, but it’s not up to you. You said “yes,” but if you have your reasons for not doing it, you are not responsible for these people’s jobs. Alright; Do what you want.’ And I hung up the phone and said, ‘Ah.'”
Emma reportedly laughed when asked about this conversation, telling Vulture, “I can’t believe I talked about it publicly.”
He then detailed what it’s really like to be a film producer, explaining, “Now I’ve realized that producing is like being a parent: every child needs different things.”
And despite downplaying the implications of Kieran leaving the film in her conversation with him, Emma admitted in the post: “I was so grateful he did it, but, also, thank God. Because it would have been catastrophic.”
