The province of the Cửu Long (Mekong) delta, Kiên Giang, aims for the value of industrial production to reach more than VNĐ48.18 trillion (2.040 million dollars) this year, which represents a year-on-year increase of 8%.
The industrial production value of Kiên Giang province was more than VNĐ44.6 billion last year, reaching 105.3% of the plan, 13.7% more than in 2021.
Director of the Department of Industry and Commerce Trương Văn Minh said that since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, this had been the first year that the province’s industrial growth reached double digits.
This shows that the process of recovering the production and business of the industrial production facilities in the area has had many positive changes and strong development, he said.
Among them, the transformation and manufacturing industry was the main growth engine of the entire industry, accounting for 95.3% of the total value structure of industrial production in the province.
Consequently, most industrial products have positive growth. Leather footwear, bricks of all kinds, packaging, beer, frozen seafood and stone extraction have a growth rate of more than 13% compared to 2021.

This result is due to the fact that the merchandise supply chain has been restored after the COVID-19 pandemic, and purchasing power increased sharply again.

Provincial People’s Committee Vice President Lê Quốc Anh said the province had intensified the activities of the provincial steering group on industrial production restoration to synchronously and effectively deploy industrial production restoration solutions to support enterprises to accelerate the recovery and development of production and business activities.
The province will strengthen support for investors and enterprises to complete and launch investment projects early to enhance industry capacity in the new year, especially key investment projects.
